Unplanned Landscape when landscape designis influenced by land art- Taking Kanaleneiland as an example to discover a new strategy.

Anecdote of the Jar

Wallace Stevens

I placed a jar in Tennessee,

And round it was, upon a hill.
It made the slovenly wilderness
Surround that hill.

The wilderness rose up to it,
And sprawled around, no longer wild.
The jar was round upon the ground
And tall and of a port in air.

It took dominion everywhere.
The jar was gray and bare.
It did not give of bird or bush,
Like nothing else in Tennessee.

When park design was not enough for me to express my feelings about the earth, a new strategy caught my eye, “landscape architecture influenced by land art”. Like in the poem, when artwork intervenes in a landscape the wild land becomes coherent, concentrated as a whole. I define myself as an “art-landscape architect” and I will always bring my artistic feelings to my research and design.
